In 2,611 homes where life sustains itself amidst the hum-drum pulse of mere existence, the sensitive perceptions of CEPA reached out to locate deeper dimensions of lapses that affect the people living in them. One collective term captures their plight: poverty. Yet, the face of poverty takes on many moods and shades in these homes. In some homes the priority given to food has overwritten everything else, thus causing imbalances in their lives. In others, the standards of living have taken a leap downwards causing tremendous hardships for the inhabitants. Healthcare suffers in some homes, while education is gently being erased in some. While it is easy to point fingers at the economic recess the nation is bravely negotiating, one cannot forget the presence of social protection schemes that operate to give a helping hand to such homes. This is where CEPA’s intellectual capacity as a think tank comes in. We located the disease, and we recommend measures that operate within geographical spaces, and that adopts a multidimensional approach with long-term empowerment of the affected homes and families. We work to restore a sense of wholesomeness to the lives of those 2,611 homes and all the other such homes in the nation.
