Dr. Selvarajah Thayananth is holding a PhD in Botany (Ecology) from Eastern University, Sri Lanka, a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Peradeniya, Kandy, and a Bachelor’s degree in Science from Eastern University, Sri Lanka. He has over 20 years of comprehensive professional experience spanning ecological research, climate change research, biodiversity management, project management, livelihood development and disaster risk management and he is a member at Institute of Environmental Professional Sri Lanka (IEPSL). Dr. Thayananth brings exceptional technical expertise of specialized experience in statistical analysis using machine learning techniques and R-studio, proficiency in GIS technology and remote sensing applications, and expertise in developing robust methodologies for scientific research studies. Additionally, he contributes significantly to academic education with more than 12 years of teaching experience in biotechnology and aquaculture management. Currently serving as Senior Research Professional in the Natural Resources and Climate Change division at CEPA, Dr. Thayananth continues to make impactful contributions to critical environmental research initiatives addressing contemporary environmental challenges.
