Shyaminda Herath holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics at University of Colombo. His research interests mainly focus on macroeconomics, monetary policy, climate economics, and development policy, with particular emphasis on Sri Lanka and the South Asian region. He has prior academic and empirical research experience in applied economics and quantitative policy analysis, especially in the areas of public debt dynamics, climate vulnerability, and monetary policy transmission.

He has engaged in several research projects employing econometric and data-driven methodologies, and sentiment-based policy analysis. His methodological focus is primarily on quantitative. He is currently attached to research work related to Growth and Economic Transformation thematic.
