Dr. Nireka Weeratunge holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Toronto, Canada. She is a Research Fellow at the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES), with expertise in the society–environment interface and development research.
Her work focuses on livelihoods, local knowledge systems, gender, poverty, vulnerability, and wellbeing, particularly among fishing and farming communities.
