Ms. Yvette Fernando is a distinguished financial sector leader with over 34 years of service at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, retiring as Senior Deputy Governor in 2024. She has extensive expertise in financial regulation, bank and non-bank supervision, foreign exchange management, payment and settlement systems, investment oversight, and financial system stability.
She has played a pivotal role in advancing financial inclusion and SME development in Sri Lanka, contributing significantly to the National Financial Inclusion Strategy and strengthening credit information systems through her leadership as Chairperson of the Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka. She has also served on the boards and committees of key regulatory institutions including the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka and the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, providing strategic oversight in financial governance, capital market development, and sustainable finance.
Ms. Fernando holds a Master of Financial Economics from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Commerce (Special) degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, further strengthening her strong foundation in economics and financial management
